Our Auto Update system just got better!

Post by nurnobi40 »

If you have a WordPress site and you are a SiteGround customer, you are most likely also using our automatic update service ( read my article about it ). Having WordPress updated is essential to have a stable and secure website, that's why we have developed and included in all hosting plans our auto update service. Everything happens automatically without you having to worry about anything.

We are happy to inform you that from today new features will be introduced:

Greater control over update scheduling
The WordPress auto updater now supports automatic scheduling at different intervals, whenever a new version of WordPress is released. You can choose whether you want to update your site immediately to the new WordPress version or schedule the update in the next 24, 48, or 72 hours. By selecting any option, you will also receive an email notifying you when the next automatic update will occur.

But the best part is that you can now set a different schedule, depending on the type luxembourg mobile database of WordPress release you have – minor (security and bug fixes) or major (core WordPress updates). The default schedule is to update immediately for minor releases, right after the release, and after 24 hours for major releases.

Please note that if a security issue is found that can only be resolved with a security update, your WordPress may be updated regardless of your settings. These types of actions do not impact functionality, so your site will remain safe.

Plugin update option
You can also specify whether you want to update plugins along with the new version or just update your WordPress installation. Please note that premium plugins may not be updated due to their specific update mechanisms, key validation, etc.

Backup included for added peace of mind
We perform a complete backup of WordPress before any update, major or minor. If a plugin or theme you use does not work with the new version or something goes wrong, you can easily restore the version you had before the update.

With the arrival of Gutenberg I have some concerns about this feature: managing many WordPress sites on SiteGround I would like to have more control and be able to choose when to switch to version 5.0 without having a long list of updated instances with compatibility issues. Is there a way to handle this eventuality? The option to remove auto-updates, as far as I know, is no longer available.
