The Ministry of Industry, Tourism, and Trade has launched a public consultation with all stakeholders in the telecommunications sector on the possibility of expanding the existing numbering range for mobile phones. Specifically, it proposes the use of nine-digit numbers beginning with 7 for both new mobile terminals and other related services: machine-to-machine communications, mobile broadband Internet access, etc.; the use of thirteen-digit numbers is also proposed for the latter type of communications.
The motivation for launching the consultation stems from the croatia phone number data strong demand for 6-band numbers for mobile telephone service. This demand has followed a trend parallel to the significant increase in subscribers to this service that has occurred in Spain over the last decade. This is demonstrated by the fact that its current penetration in Spain comfortably exceeds 110% of the population , a figure that at first glance might indicate a mature market. However, despite this high penetration, numbering requirements remain at elevated levels due to the existence of other sources of demand other than traditional mobile telephony based on voice and messaging services, which are generating new requests for number assignment.
