Marco Resino is passionate about digital marketing, which is why he's decided to make it his way of life. Managing communications for several companies simultaneously, he excels at understanding both the strategic and more practical aspects of marketing, such as design and programming. He's currently pursuing our Master's in Digital Marketing and Ecommerce to further specialize in this field. In the following interview, he shares his career path.
After graduating in economics and digital marketing, you began your career as a marketing intern at STIHL Group. How do you remember your first professional contact with digital marketing and what tasks did you perform?
Joining Stihl meant joining a powerful, globally renowned multinational , one of Germany's largest companies. When I arrived, I wasn't aware I was usa mobile database joining such a large, high-profile company. All I knew about them was that they were featured in Carrusel Deportivo (run by Pepe Domingo Castaño) advertising chainsaws. After a few weeks of working there, I realized it was the number one company in the sector and that the demands were very high . I worked for six months with complete enthusiasm and a lot of desire. The chances of staying at the company were practically nonexistent, but I didn't care. I wanted to learn something new every second I was there , and that's what happened.
Meanwhile, you were also Website Project Manager for Bet Pronósticos, designing the website and helping with its SEO. Do you think it's essential to have web and design knowledge if you want to make it big in online marketing? What advice would you give to someone who wants to start learning these skills from scratch?
BetPronosticos is a project I started with some friends, and as soon as we launched it, we realized the importance of Digital Marketing in this type of sector and practically in the entire market. If we hadn't learned about positioning, web design, and social media, we wouldn't have lasted a single day, so learning all of this was key. Fortunately, there are now many more resources to learn all of this on your own, but to have a solid knowledge base and be able to decide where to specialize, I think it's key to pursue a professional master's degree or more advanced training. Afterward, it's much easier to acquire knowledge independently.
