Accessible website checklist

Post by rosebaby3892 »

Digital accessibility is already being addressed by a majority of companies worldwide. On average, 73% say they offer accessibility features on their websites. In Germany, this figure is higher at 79%.

We didn't ask how many companies have fully implemented accessibility. There's no consistent definition of what exactly constitutes "fully implemented." However, we did ask about the important features of accessibility and their implementation.

Which accessibility features are already implemented on German websites
German websites already implement a variety of accessibility features to facilitate access for people with disabilities.

But what specific features are available to help people with these disabilities? The c level executive list following checklist shows you which measures you can implement to provide people with disabilities with fair access to your information and products. You'll also get insight into how many study participants from Germany say this feature is already available on their company's website, so you can see how you compare to your competitors.

Resize, zoom, or highlight text (50%): This feature allows users to adjust the font size for easier reading. This is especially important for people with visual impairments.
Video subtitles and transcripts (49%): Subtitles enable deaf or hard-of-hearing people to understand videos. Transcripts are written versions of audio content and provide an additional way to consume content.
Compatibility with screen readers (40%): For these devices to work, the website must be structured so that the software can interpret the content correctly.
Descriptive links (40%): Instead of simply displaying a URL, links should be accompanied by descriptive words. This way, users immediately understand where the link leads without having to click it.
Keyboard navigation (40%): This feature allows users to navigate a website entirely using the keyboard. This is especially important for people who cannot use a mouse.
Color and saturation adjustment (39%): This feature allows users to adjust the colors on a web page, for example, to increase contrast or filter certain colors. This can be helpful for people with certain visual impairments.
Text-to-speech features (42%): This feature allows text to be read aloud. It can be helpful for people with reading or learning difficulties.
Alt text for images (32%): This text describes the content of an image for users who cannot see the image (e.g., blind or visually impaired people). Screen readers convert the digital text on a website into spoken language so that the user understands what is shown in the image.
