Grouping blocks is the easiest way to create different layouts in the post, page, or full site editor.

Previously, it was not possible to add a background image to a block using the block editor. WordPress version 6.4 now allows users to set a background image for any group block.

Improved toolbar for parent/child blocks
When working with blocks that have child blocks, the toolbar would move and change as you moved through the blocks.

This did not provide an ideal experience for users of blocks such as Navigation, List, and Quote.

WordPress 6.4 automatically joins the child toolbar to the parent toolbar and creates a consistent user experience when moving through the inner blocks.

Improved preview/list view
List view shows a quick preview of your page or post layout in the site/block editor.

WordPress 6.4 comes with a redesigned list view with new features and a better experience.

You can now rename group blocks in the list view.

This will help you identify the function of each group block and make your layouts more readable.

Previously, the list view only displayed the image or gallery label when you added one. You had to scroll manually to see which image or gallery it was.

With WordPress 6.4, you will now see an Image Preview in the list view.

Open in new tab in Link Preview
In WordPress 6.3, the "Open in new tab" option has been moved to the Link Preview control under the "Advanced" toggle.

It was necessary to perform a few extra clicks to open a link in a new tab.
