Ms. Thunová presents trends and challenges in the field of marketing in the environment of a top scientific institution.
What are the biggest pitfalls and obstacles in terms of marketing and PR in your center?
In the last few years, there has been a relatively rapid and, above all, dynamic development of online marketing communication tools and channels. Thanks to COVID-19, online has become the main communication channel of the Hi-LASE Center during the pandemic situation and lockdown. However, not all activities can be transferred to the online environment, and not everyone is ready to use the necessary programs and applications. Here we come to the issue of finances associated with marketing and PR, which is probably similar in all scientific institutions. Although the popularization of science is important, the primary one kazakhstan telemarketing list is research, which is financed from scientific projects and grants, while marketing costs
are not always taken into account. This mostly applies to smaller or shorter-term projects, where the budget lacks an item for marketing expenses, such as expenses associated with the creation of a visual identity and subsequent promotion of the project .
Why is that?
From my point of view, there is a clash between established, historical processes and, let's say, the old perception of PR and its activities with the new needs of popularizing science and the related change in marketing and communication strategy. What was enough before is no longer enough. Today is the era of digital marketing. Great emphasis is placed on content marketing , websites , video and email marketing and an appropriate form of branding. The use of SEM ( SEO , PPC ) and SMN is the daily bread of all "marketers and PR professionals". For a suitable way of commercializing products,
a regular online campaign is almost a necessity.
