How did Ben survive the encounter?

Post by rosebaby3892 »

No, but seriously? Thomas? You don't want to talk about the bones either? And really, the injection, right? It almost killed you, but you think it's not important?

Okay, come on: since I'm nice (yes, yes, here, Miss, have another drink), I'll give you the explanation. These "stings" are actually done by the grifters. And you know what? It's even more incoherent! Because then, where did a grifter get a sting from whoever was in the operating room? And bonus question: knowing that grifters kill everyone, by all the characters' admission, Did fax lists the grifter inject him with his thingy before whistling to wish him a good day while going to buy Le Figaro Histoire  ?

This is completely stupid. A bored screenwriter must have drawn a maze on his notepad and someone mistook it for a finished script. That's the only explanation.

But come on, come on, let's continue our descent into the depths of mediocrity.

Poor Ben therefore suffers the punishment of all those who have been bitten by scratchers (because yes, there is a punishment already prepared, with a little ritual and everything, as if there must have been a lot of them, in fact, people who survived an encounter with a scratcher, who I remind you, until now only came out the very night that no-one-ever-came-out-of-the-maze-after-a-night-in-it-so-actually-it's-not-possible), namely that he is pushed back into the labyrinth with poles like a large sperm whale being thrown back into the sea or a fashion blogger in front of a macaron stand. Also, this being done at closing time, poor Ben sees the doors of the labyrinth close on him... and we will never see him again, because nothing can save him: Ben is lost.

What? Who has…

Forget it. But however, this event causes a significant change: with Ben's death, since the maze has gotten the better of him, the next morning, it's Alby who replaces the deceased to accompany his old running partner, Minho, into the maze. Thomas is therefore quite surprised when he sees them both leave as soon as the maze doors open in the early morning, and he shares his astonishment with Newt.

"But? Alby's going into the maze? Isn't that dangerous?"
– Yes, completely. But Ben had to be replaced.
– Directly from our leader, who we absolutely mustn't lose? Wouldn't that be a bit stupid, sometimes?
– Hey, stop right now! Besides, Alby is a great chef.
– All the more reason not to lose him. Where's the boss from, anyway?
“Three years ago, he was the first of us to arrive here. Can you imagine? A month all alone! Before finally, the freight elevator brought supplies and a new one. Then another one the following month… Alby organized this community. It's thanks to him that everything is holding together.”

I don't know about you, but not only do I really like how they insist on the fact that Alby is indispensable, and therefore that letting him go into the maze is even more stupid, but above all, someone will have to explain to me what Alby did on his own during the first month in the operating room. Did he touch himself? No, because I don't know, but without memory and in the middle of a maze with doors wide open, I would have thought he would have gone inside. And since no one would have told him about the scratchers, well, he would have died. Just like the next arrival who would have arrived alone. Then the next one. Etc.
