Artificial Intelligence Transforms Poultry Farming in Guizhou Province

Post by moniya12 »

At the Silkie chicken breeding base in Tiantaishan Village, Chishui City, southwest China's Guizhou Province , each chicken coop is equipped with a real-time surveillance camera and each chicken is fitted with a micro-device.

This technology allows breeders to track the daily steps of their chickens and identify sick ones. Additionally, sensors installed along the fences of the coops can monitor for predator threats and detect any structural damage.

"Artificial intelligence (AI) has greatly improved the breeding standard of our Mulberry chickens," said Xu Qiyong, manager of the breeding base.

According to Xu, healthy Silkie chickens typically take 10,000 to 20,000 steps a day. If the system detects that a chicken has taken fewer than 1,000 steps, it signals the possibility of illness, and staff will quickly intervene.

As digital technology develops rapidly , artificial intelligence has improved data accuracy and agricultural efficiency in Guizhou, where 92.5% of the land is mountains or hills.

In April 2023, a team formed by Tencent Cloud and Tencent Class of bahrain email address Shenzhen University jointly implemented the Silkie smart chicken breeding system based on AI technology and cloud platforms.

With this system, the team solved problems such as disease and wildlife infestations, and increased the base's productivity by 30% in a short period of time.

In addition, Tencent Cloud and Tencent Class of Shenzhen University are collaborating with Guizhou University and other institutions to develop a large language model for the poultry industry.

This AI-powered system will serve as a virtual assistant to help breeders overcome the challenges that come with breeding Silkie chickens.

“Since last year, we have sold 100,000 Silkie chickens and 300,000 eggs, and demand still exceeds supply ,” Xu said, adding that he is working with the local government to encourage more farmers to adopt AI-powered chicken farming.
