Instagram continues to make changes to its platform and it seems it has no plans to stop. Now, according to The Information , Instagram is removing shopping features from its “Shop” in order to increase revenue from direct advertising.
Its goal is to bolster and push advertising directly and scale back its e-commerce efforts. “This withdrawal shows how Meta Platforms is moving away from some long-term projects as it focuses on kuwait phone number data building its short-form video business,” the outlet reports.
“Tab Lite” the new Instagram e-commerce tab
Instagram is considering going one step further and removing the shopping tab from the app altogether due to a “change in company priorities.” But the company doesn’t want to completely eliminate this feature, as in the coming months, the company will test a simpler and less personalized version of the shopping page, which will be called “Tab Lite.”
A Meta spokesperson told Business Insider via email that “ commerce remains important to Instagram as we continue to make it easier for people to discover and shop products across the app from feeds, stories, reels, and innovations like live shopping and delivery.
