Chinese social network tries to smooth over differences with the US and Europe

TikTok is currently involved in several projects to ease tensions and convince American and European authorities that it is indeed a safe social network.

In the United States , one of TikTok's most lucrative markets, the social network's business is estimated to be worth between $40 and $50 billion . Smaller but equally important is the business of TikTok's subsidiary in Europe, where the company generated $1 billion in 2021.

TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew is due to appear before the US Congress next week and recently met with European Commission officials to outline his cybersecurity plans. Brussels was not entirely convinced by his plans, however .
